The rules and terms that govern your membership and use of LifeRegistry.

Last Updated: 15 March 2025

Important – Please Read Carefully

By joining LifeRegistry, you acknowledge that you are entering a structured, rules‑based membership framework and not a contract for insurance, a funeral plan, or a savings product. Membership does not create individual entitlement or guarantees. All contributions are discretionary and subject to available reserves and the Registry Rules.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the LifeRegistry website or applying for membership, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and the Registry Rules. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Membership Eligibility

Membership is open to UK residents aged 18 and over who meet the age criteria published in the current Registry Rules. We reserve the right to decline any application at our sole discretion.

3. Fees & Payments

A one‑time non‑refundable Administrative Fee is payable upon activation. Monthly Membership Contributions are collected by Direct Debit. Fees may be changed with 30 days' notice.

4. Discretionary Framework

Contributions are pooled and discretionary. No individual entitlement, savings, or guarantee exists. Payments are subject to eligibility, moratorium periods, and available reserves.

5. Moratorium & Eligibility

First 24 months: no eligibility. Months 25–36: up to £3,000. Month 37+: up to £6,000 (subject to rules and reserves). Moratorium restarts if you rejoin after cancellation.

6. Cancellation & Rejoining

You may cancel at any time. Cancellation must be in writing. To rejoin, you must submit a new application, pay a new Administrative Fee, and the moratorium restarts.

Detailed Terms & Conditions

  • LifeRegistry / the Registry: LifeRegistry Ltd (trading as LifeRegistry).
  • Member / You: The individual whose membership application has been accepted.
  • Membership Contribution: The monthly subscription fee paid by Direct Debit.
  • Administrative Fee: The one‑time, non‑refundable activation fee.
  • Registry Rules: The governing document detailing eligibility, discretion, and operational protocols.
  • Discretionary Contribution: A potential payment decided at the sole discretion of the Registry, subject to rules and available reserves.
  • Moratorium Period: The initial period of membership during which certain discretionary considerations are not available.

2.1 To apply for membership, you must complete the online application form and pay the Administrative Fee. You must provide accurate and complete information.

2.2 We may request proof of age and residency. We reserve the right to refuse or reject any application without giving a reason.

2.3 Membership is personal and non‑transferable. It begins when we send you a confirmation email.

3.1 The Administrative Fee is payable by debit card upon activation and is non‑refundable.

3.2 Monthly Membership Contributions are collected by Direct Debit. You must maintain a valid Direct Debit mandate. If a payment fails, we will notify you; failure to remedy within 14 days may result in suspension or cancellation.

3.3 We may change the amount of Monthly Contributions by giving at least 30 days' notice. If you do not accept the change, you may cancel before it takes effect.

4.1 Membership contributions are pooled and used for Registry operations and, where applicable, the discretionary contribution framework. They are not held in individual accounts and do not accumulate personal balances.

4.2 Any contribution is at the sole discretion of the Registry, exercised in accordance with the Registry Rules and available reserves at the time. No member has a right to demand or expect a payment.

4.3 The maximum contribution bands are as stated in the moratorium schedule, but actual payment may be less depending on reserves and individual circumstances.

5.1 Months 0–24: No eligibility for discretionary contributions.

5.2 Months 25–36: Partial eligibility, capped at up to £3,000.

5.3 Month 37 onwards: Full eligibility band, capped at up to £6,000.

5.4 Eligibility is subject to continuous membership and compliance with these Terms. If you cancel and rejoin, the moratorium restarts from the new join date.

6.1 You may cancel your membership at any time by written notice (email is acceptable). Cancellation takes effect from the date we receive your notice, provided all due fees are paid up to that date.

6.2 The Registry may terminate your membership with immediate effect if you fail to pay contributions, provide false information, or act in a way that brings the Registry into disrepute.

6.3 If you cancel and later wish to rejoin, you must submit a new application, pay a new Administrative Fee, and the moratorium period restarts.

7.1 We may update these Terms or the Registry Rules from time to time. Changes will be communicated via email or website notice at least 14 days before taking effect, where practicable.

7.2 Unless otherwise stated, changes apply to all members prospectively. Changes will not affect eligibility for events that have already occurred. Where we change eligibility criteria, it will generally apply to new members only, but we reserve the right to apply changes to all members with reasonable notice if necessary for sustainability.

8.1 In the event of a member's death, a representative (e.g., next of kin, executor) must notify us in writing and provide:

  • A certified copy of the death certificate;
  • Proof of the representative's identity and authority (e.g., grant of probate or letter of administration);
  • A completed notification form (available on request).

8.2 Once verified, we will assess eligibility for any discretionary contribution in accordance with the Rules then in force. The process may take up to 28 days.

9.1 LifeRegistry is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from membership or use of our services. We do not guarantee any payment or outcome.

9.2 Our maximum aggregate liability in any event is limited to the total Membership Contributions paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
